DIY: Chevron

When I am not sitting down to read Fashion magazines, I love flipping through design magazines to gain inspiration for the new house.  Last week I came across this photo in House Beautiful.

I loved the unexpected chevron stripes on the back of the bookcase and thought this would add such a great pop of color in my kitchen.  I have two glass door cabinets and with white plates and mostly white accessories, it just seemed a bit bland.  At first I thought I would need to find a wallpaper but after reading the article, I realized that these stripes were actually hand painted.  My motivation kicked in and the hubby and I spent Memorial Day painting these chevron stripes in our cabinets.  Here was the process.

The inspiration were the nobs on our stove

The outcome?  After 7 hours of work and 5 coats of paint, I couldn't be happier.  It added the perfect pop of color to the kitchen without taking over.  I LOVE it and am also so relieved that we did not screw up the cabinets.  Can you imagine if we would have messed up a dark red on white?  It would have been terrible!  Yes, I am feeling accomplished.

YIKES!

When I wrote my One Year post, number 6 of my "things about me" was "I have an issue with claustrophobia and freaked out during an MRI (I am hoping I NEVER need one EVER again)".

Fast forward to TODAY, and as you read this, I am heading in to my second MRI.  Yep, lucky me.  The only difference this time is that I will be drugged up on Valium and will hopefully not give a crap that they sticking me in a tunnel.

Where would I rather be?  Well, this wouldn't be so bad...

But I would be okay with anything other than an MRI machine.

Just to ensure that this post is not 100% of a complaint on my predicament, I thought I would share this happy news.  Net-A-Porter has one of their incredible sales going on now and it would be sad for you to miss out.  Here is just a peek of what you could pick up.

LABEL+thread

Sweater: THREAD+Social, Tank: Asos, Jeans: Tory Burch, Necklace: Stella &Dot, Sunglasses: MARC by Marc Jacobs
I am not one for outfit posts (hence the instragram photos) but I had to share this look due to me being obsessed with the sweater.  A couple weeks ago I won a giveaway from Glamamom (if you do not read her blog, you are missing out) for a gift certificate to LABEL+thread.  I also do not tend to enter giveaways but after seeing the sweater she was modeling, I couldn't resist.  Being that I am always cold, I am a HUGE fan of sweaters.  SHOCKINGLY, I won!  It took me FOREVER to decide on what I was going to get until I thought the above sweater would be perfect for Summer.  It is extremely soft, a perfect length and I love the coral.  Here it is a little closer.

I am now obsessed with this line and am so happy that I still have some credit left to go buy something else!  Here are some that are top of my list.
Tape Yarn Tunic
Luxe Striped Cardigan
I highly recommend you checking out their online store here.  I love finding new lines to indulge in!

Are you curious where I wore the outfit?  Drinks on the rooftop in Laguna Beach at one of my favorite places in Orange County. Perfect.

Moms, Margaritas and Manicures

Every month some neighborhood ladies and I get together for what I like to call "Sanity Check Ins" but the majority might call "Girls Night Out".  Each month, someone else hosts at their home and we drink, eat and do a number of things.  Some months it might be Bunco, another month might be a couple's night (yes, the hubbies get invited sometimes too), or perhaps we all head out for a night on the town.  It always changes and I really look forward to catching my breathe with these ladies.

This month, my friend S and I were hosting so we decided to shake it up a bit with a nail polish exchange.  Have you done one before?  It was so much fun!  Who doesn't love to go home with a new nail polish?  "Cinco de Mayo" was our May theme and we served Lulu B Margaritas, bite size burritos and taquitos, and of course, churros for dessert.  Here are a few pics!
The hostesses

LuLu B Margaritas
Already prepared, all natural and low calorie.  How can you go wrong?!
The food!
All the colors!

If you are interested in throwing together a similar night for you and your girlfriends, here are a few hints to make it super easy for you!
1. Find the holiday of the month and use that as your theme.  This makes it a no-brainer and your local party store will have everything that you need.
2. Cater when you can.  This bite size menu was put together by a local mexican restaurant at an extremely reasonable price.
3. Get creative.  The sombreros at the top were hiding numbers underneath.  Everyone picked a hat and that was their position in the exchange, plus, no one had done a nail polish exchange before.
4. Make the cocktails easy.  LuLu B margaritas were not only a HUGE hit with everyone, but they allowed us hostesses to actually partake in the festivities instead of slaving over a blender, mixing our own.
5. Don't think too much about it.  Girl's nights are supposed to be fun, not stressful.  In the end, it is the company people enjoy the most.

* Lulu B cocktails let you indulge in a premium premixed cocktail made with natural flavors, and soft on calories and carbs.  LuLu B margaritas were provided to Juggling in Heels for this event but my opinion is 100% my own.  No compensation was provided for this post.

Jump

I am dying over this entire look but the jumpsuit is gorgeous.
Wouldn't it be a great look for a night out on the town?
Between this jumpsuit and this dress, I have developed a crush on red.

The Happiest Place on Earth

As you know from this post, Baby Girl turned two on Friday and we decided to spend the day at "The Happiest Place on Earth".  I LOVE Disneyland.  There is absolutely something magical about the entire place.  Baby Girl had been before but was too young at the time to really take it all in.  This time around, it was completely different.  She was in Mickey Mouse Heaven and LOVED every second of it.  It is always so much fun to watch a little one take in Disneyland for the first time.  It truly is a world of fantasy.

And my favorite photo of the entire day...

Red

Remember this post on creating my own look for an event I had?  Well, that was a major fail.  Not a fail on the pieces.  They are both beautiful and are fantastic additions to my closet.  They just did not work together.  The worst part is that due to tailoring, I figured this out Thursday night and with Baby Girl's birthday celebration at Disneyland on Friday, I now had Saturday morning to find something to wear that night.  STRESS.

Lucky for me, Diane von Furstenberg came to the rescue.  Thanks to their gorgeous new boutique at South Coast Plaza, I was able to have a dress in my hands within 20 minutes.  It might just be my favorite dress in the closet now.

Jori Dress

It is extremely comfortable and such an easy dress that can be used for a variety of different occasions.  It also comes in purple and blue, which are equally beautiful.  Perfect staple to have on hand.

Here is the dress in action with the hubby and friends.

Please excuse the phone quality
I wish I had more photos of the event to share but sadly, this is the only one I have.  Apparently I failed on the photographer job too.

Double Take

I have been eyeing these DV by Dolce Vita "Archer" Sandals for a while now.

I have been going back and forth between the mint and hot pink color but then I came across these Mossimo Poeske Flat Sandals on the Target website last week.

Yes, I know there are some slight differences but COME ON!  I do like the mint color on the DV better but for a quarter of the price, I think I can deal.  There is also no question as to what color to get.  For this price, I will take both.

Two

Baby Girl is two today.  TWO!  I cannot believe it.  I know they say time goes faster with each child, but the third has flown.  I still remember when we decided to go to three.  Our middle man had just turned two and we felt that someone was missing.  Nine months later (literally, nine months later....she came fast) Baby Girl arrived and I was SHOCKED.  We did not find out the sex and I was SURE that it was Boy #3.  Now here we are, two years later, and I cannot remember what it was like to not have her in our life.

Who is this girl?  Well......
1. She is STUBBORN and STRONG WILLED, just like her mommy.  Good for all the men that try to come into her life (watch out boys) but bad for me at times.  She believes her way is the only way.
2.  Mickey Mouse is King.  She adores the guy.
3. She has expensive taste in shoes and handbags.  There will be a lock on my closet one day.
4. She adores her brothers and they adore her.
5. Her favorite foods are chicken and black beans.
6. She is not fond of others saying no but it is her favorite word.
7. She has a major sweet tooth, just like her mommy.
8. She already knows that if she wants something, she needs to go to daddy.
9. She knows the words to the chorus of "Rock Party Anthem".  Totally inappropriate, I know.
10. She LOVES the beach and will run as far into the water as you will let her.  Complete hazard.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

Share

What does a fashion blogger's son bring to school for "Share"?
His new summer sandals.
Obviously.

No. 5

Thanks to Etsy I have become fascinated with how many different ways artists can re-create the classic bottle of my favorite scent.
These are some of my favorites out there.
I sort of want all of them framed, hanging in my powder room.
