Today we are headed off for a much needed family vacation *YEA!*
An island, beaches, sun, nothing to do but relax.
It sounds perfect.

I am going to lighten up my posting over the next week but before I go I wanted to invite you to an event I am hosting with Rebecca Taylor, Fashion Island.
I would love to see you there!

Silly Lunch Date

What do you get when you combine one mom, three children, Rubio's, a summer afternoon and a camera?

A crazy lunch date filled with yummy food, laughs and a lot of silly photos.

Their new Chimichurri salmon Tacos....AMAZING.
Superman, the Celtics, Minnie Mouse, Sports Center and USC
We are a branding mess
I don't think Rubio's knew what chaos they were inviting in when they asked us to come try the new Chimichurri Salmon tacos and kids meals but we greatly appreciated the invite!  Everyone enjoyed everything they ordered (like I mentioned before, the tacos were amazing) and I can now add Rubio's to the list of places the entire family can eat something they enjoy, especially when a churro comes at the end.  We paid a visit to the Rancho Snta Margarita location but there are locations throughout California, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada (you can find all locations here.)

Also, the winners of the 3-day Burke Williams spa passes have been chosen!  Click here to see if you won.

* Juggling in Heels received complimentary meals from Rubio's but these opinions are 100% my own.

Weekend

via
The weekend is here and we will be spending most of our time on the soccer field enjoying a little mid-summer tournament.  When we are not cheering the Oldest on we will be packing for our vacation (leaving next Tuesday!!) and celebrating a friend's birthday.  This weekend also marks the final month countdown before school starts.  I am SO NOT ready for the kids to go back to school and am happy we have some vacations planned prior to that last day of summer.

I spent this last week finalizing some details for for some fun upcoming projects and cannot wait to share them with you!  Keep an eye out.

If you missed it this week...
We had some fun with Disney and Old Navy...
I planned a look for Brunch...
I took a look back at what I wore...
we enjoyed some breathtaking views in LA...

I will be announcing the winner of the Burke Williams giveaway on Monday.
Today is the last day!  Enter here.

Have a great weekend.

The Observatory

After our visit to The Walt Disney Studios, there was still a lot of time left in the day so we figured, why not stop at the Griffith Observatory?  It as been on my list of places to take the kids for a while now (Middle Man is obsessed with Space) and with it only a few miles away from where we were, it just made sense.  I am so glad we made the stop because it was a beautiful day and not only did the kids love seeing all the space exhibits but the views outside were breathtaking.  You can sometimes forget these gems in LA when you are moving your way quickly from one place to another on the freeway but it is definitely one of those LA landmarks that is a MUST SEE for everyone.

What I Wore

With summer in full swing, I have not been doing a good job of pulling looks together.  With the majority of our time in bathing suits, it has just felt like a lot of work.  What can I say, I am enjoying the fact that we can be a bit lazy during the summer.  There have been a few moments of motivation thanks to a date night, birthday party, summer excursions and of course, the 4th of July.

Mickey Through the Decades

On Saturday the family and I ventured up to the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank to attend Old Navy's "Mickey Through the Decades" Vintage Tee Collection launch party. The kids had a blast picking out their own tee's from the large selection of designs created to showcase Mickey and his friends throughout the years.  My favorite?  The old school Mickey Mouse Club shirt.  I used to love that show.

After visiting the t-shirt booth and previewing the entire collection (in which Baby Girl promptly asked to put hers on), we were able to visit with Mickey and Minnie (only Baby Girl would take the photos though...), get our own character drawings, watch some new Mickey short films, complete some Disney crafts, and indulge in some pretty tasty treats all day long.  They had their own red carpet moment and for the first time they were able to see what a real movie studio looks like.  It was a great new adventure for them and just another reason why we love bringing them up to LA.

The entire collection of Disney tees are available now at Old Navy stores or online here.

Weekend

I had every intention of taking photos and having a beautiful post for this Zucchini and Chicken Salad.  Unfortunately, I just got lazy.  It is too bad too because it was SO easy to make and VERY good.  Hopefully this one photo entices you enough to try it out because you will love it.  Promise.

This past week was spent with all three children at VBS camp which meant it was also my first week of summer without them home in the morning.  It really is amazing how fast I can get things done when they are not here.  I am also happy to say that my Oldest's face is looking SO MUCH BETTER than it did Saturday when he fell.  I have to thank all the people with a million suggestions on what we should do because I did them all and it has worked wonders.  We have now moved to the "Vitamin E overdose and suncreen" stage to avoid scars but he is feeling SO MUCH BETTER about it and for that, I am thrilled.

With the weekend here we will be having a BBQ with friends Friday night and then off to the Walk Disney Studios on Saturday for what is looking to be a really fun event.  I am also beginning to get into vacation prep mode with our family trip only a week and a half away.  YEA!

Have a fabulous weekend and don't forget to enter this Burke Williams Giveaway!

Burke Williams Giveaway

A giveaway!  Finally!  I know, it has been a long time.

Today's giveaway is brought to you by Burke Williams, the original urban day spa.  The facilities incorporate the finest elements of a world-class European spa while their professional therapist ensure you will not be disappointed but rejuvenated and relaxed.  Last week I was invited in for a little pampering and of course I said yes.

With countless hours being spent in the sun this summer, my skin has been extremely dry and it was time to give it a little love. I selected their Nourishing facial to help battle the elements.  It was beyond expectations.  My face spent an hour and twenty minutes  being treated with seaweed extracts, citrus antioxidants, and aromatherapy.  The 3-layer masque was unbelievable and at the end of it all, my skin felt entirely different.  It was just what the doctor ordered and my dull, over-dried face looked refreshed and rejuvenated.  It was fantastic.  Add in all the amenities of the spa, a cozy robe and some relaxation and it could not have been a better evening.  Now it is your turn.

Burke Williams has generously offered to giveaway not one, but two 3-day spa passes to the Burke Williams of your choice (they have locations in San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Monica, Torrance, Sherman Oaks, West Hollywood, Pasadena, Orange and Mission Viejo).  These passes allow the winners to use the spa amenities for free, three different days.  These passes will also provide 20% off all services booked the day of the visit.  This is the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing day alone or to try out one of their services you have been eying for 20% off (you can view the  treatment menu here).

Here is how to enter:
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Lindsay and Alison, please email me at sarah@jugglinginheels.com so we can get those certificates sent out to you!

You have until midnight on Friday, July 19th to enter. Good luck!

Grilled Vegetable, Herb and Goat Cheese Sandwiches

After completely over indulging on the Fourth, I was in the mood for some uber veggie filled meals on Friday to make up for it.  I came across these Grilled Vegetable, Herb and Goat Cheese Sandwiches and it sounded pretty delish.  With all the eggplant, zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes and spinach, it seems like the perfect way to get some healthy food back into our system and was light enough for a warm summer evening.  The entire sandwich involved some simple grilling and mixing, making it incredibly easy to make.  I finished the meal with a grilled caesar salad and a glass of red wine.  All in all, a fab dinner if I do say so myself!

Self Conscious

photo via Savvy in San Francisco

On Saturday, my Oldest took a major spill off his razor, which led to scraping off his forehead, chin and entire nose, two fat lips and a chipped tooth (which was permanent I might add!).  It was a pretty nasty fall and when I heard the scream come from him, I knew it was not okay.  His face was all bloody and he couldn't stop screaming.  And yes, just because I know some might be wondering, he was wearing a helmet.

For all the anxiety I have about things that COULD happen, I have a weird sense of calm when things actually happen.  I was totally mellow when it came to getting him home, cleaning up his wounds, calling the Pediatrician and Dentist, and putting him back together.  I thought to myself, hey, this is boys!  We have escaped injury for a while so something was bound to happen.  And there were no stitches or broken bones so that was a huge plus.  Granted we are going to have to watch the sun to ensure there is no scarring and he is going to need to bond his tooth and take it easy for a bit but really, in the grand scheme of life, this was minor.

Little did I know my anxiety would come from something else.

The night of the fall my Oldest took a look at himself in the mirror and said, "Oh my gosh, my face.".  The next morning, he did not say a word as we headed out to church and kept his head down the entire mass.  Considering I usually have to break up the talking between him and his brother, this was definitely out of character.  Friends came up to him to see how he was doing and other children that we don't know asked if he was okay, simply out of kindness.  My Oldest ignored them all, dropped his head and didn't respond.  I was surprised by this behavior until it hit me.  He was self conscious about the way he looked and my heart instantly hurt.

Suddenly the injuries that I thought were "not the worst thing that could happen" became AWFUL and I wanted them gone so he wouldn't feel this way.

At some point in life, we are all going to be self conscious about something.  Unfortunately it is human nature to worry about what other people think.  I still do at times though I wish I didn't.  This was my first time really seeing one of my children feel self conscious over the way they look.  Once he was all cleaned up I never thought about the fact that he wouldn't want people to see him with his injuries.  It made me sad and anxious that he was feeling this way and there was nothing I could do.

Who knew the self conscious stage would come.  I mean, I knew it would, I was just not ready for that part yet.  This is an entirely new stage of parenting that seems really hard.  I don't want my children to feel self conscious!  But they will, because like I said, I do.  Ugh.

Over the last couple of days, as his wounds begin to heal and he is becoming used to the injuries, my Oldest is returning to his old self.  But I know this is not going to be the last time he is self conscious about something and I know there are going to be times that I know about it and other times I don't.  I mean, isn't this the entire teenage years?!  I just hope that I am instilling in all three of my children self confidence so that as they get older, and these situations become more prevalent, they have the confidence not to care.  Crossing all my fingers....and all my toes....

Zoe Karssen

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have noticed that I tend to wear t-shirts a lot.  It is a staple for a mom.  When it comes to t-shirts, I can be a bit snobby about them.  I like really thin, soft, flattering shirts that wash well, don't shrink and have a bit of style to them.  The only brand that consistently delivers on all the above is Zoe Karssen.  Founded in Amsterdam in 2010, the brand has focused on creating cool, easy-to-wear t-shirts and sweats.  I also love all the rock and roll, fashion and pop culture references printed on each shirt.  They create a little fun on an item that can sometimes be considered boring.

These are some of my favorites but you can find a large selection at ASOS, The OutNet, Net-a-Porter and of course, at Zoe Karssen.

Patriotic Rice Krispy Treats

Yesterday the kids and I got into the spirit of the 4th and decided to make some rice krispy treats with a red, white and blue spin.  We followed the basic recipe for rice krispy treats but added some red and blue M&M's and candy sticks to make them less sticky to eat.  They are an incredible easy dessert to make for the 4th and who doesn't love a good rice krispy treat?

Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons butter
6 cups Rice Krispies
40 regular marshmallows
Red and blue M&M's (pulled from a regular bag)
Star cookie cutter
Candy sticks

How To Make:
1. Melt the butter in a large sauce pan on low heat.
2. Add the marshmallows and mix continuously until they are all melted.
3. In a large mixing bowl, mix the cereal and marshmallows together until all the cereal is covered
4. Mix in the M&M's
5. Flatten mixture on a rimmed baking sheet that has been lined with butter or nonstick cooking spray
6. Let cool until completely cooled
7. Cut out star shapes with the cookie cutter
8. Place the candy stick into the star and enjoy!

If you are interested in some more 4th of July fun, I am over at My Thirty Spot today sharing a little wardrobe inspiration for the holiday!  Come visit here.

Let's Go!

This past weekend we were out of town and I came home with this sudden motivation to do a ton of things around the house.  I am on a roll and can't stop now!  This means that I have not had a second to sit down and actually write a post.  Woops.  I will be back tomorrow with something a little more substantial but until then, do you think if I wore this around the house my hubby would take the hint?
