Future BFFs

Once upon a time, there were Best Friends.
They both had daughters the same age.
Even though they live in different states, they decided their daughters needed to be Best Friends too.

So far, it is working.

A Day in LA

Yesterday I spent the majority of the day up in LA with my Best Friend K.  Oh how I love Girl Time.  We had fun visiting the Brunello Cucinelli showroom, having lunch with one of my favorite PR girls (thank you again J!), shopping on Rodeo, drinking champagne at the Montage Beverly Hills and attending the Wendy Bellissimo Collection Launch party for Gilt Kids.  Best of all, it was the first time in a long time that we got to hang out and chat without pure chaos kids running around us.  It just reminds me how much I hate that she does not live in Orange County anymore.  But that is an entire different story that I continue to make her feel guilty about.  But back to yesterday.  I took a ton of photos from the day and will definitely share, but for now, here are just a few of the photos I took on my phone.  More to come later this week!

A quick shot of us before we headed to the event
Best Friends.  Champagne.  What is better?
Everything was absolutely adorable.  I loved it all.
One of our favorite items at the event.  How fab is this diaper bag?
This first launch of the collection on Gilt is TODAY so do not miss it!  If you are not a member of Gilt yet, you can sign up by clicking here.  If you have little ones, you are going to want to check this out.

Plum Pretty Sugar

MONDAY!  Always a not-so-fabulous day but what can you do?  It always shows up.  Did you have a great weekend?  We had a much needed mellow weekend that felt incredible.  We purposely made no plans both Friday and Saturday night so that we could have one weekend where we were not running all over Orange County.  We could not escape ALL the crazy because the days were spent on the baseball field (yes, that is Friday, Saturday, Sunday and another game tonight...) but the nights were spent outside with a glass (or two...) of wine and no place to be.  HEAVEN.  I really needed this and finally feel a little recharged!

One item that I spent a TON of time in this past weekend while laying around was the robe that my Best Friend gave all the bridesmaids in her wedding.  I know I shared them in this post, but just in case you are too lazy to click the link, here they are again.

They are by Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie and I am addicted to mine.  I have been throwing it on in the morning when I wake up and really could sit it in all day if a robe would be acceptable out in public.  It is also the perfect item to wear while prepping yourself.  The thin cotton allows your body to breathe while blow drying your hair and the wrap style makes sure you do not mess yourself up while putting on your clothes.  Finally, the prints are gorgeous.  Being that my BF has impeccable taste, I should not have expected any less, but this gift tops the list of Bridesmaids presents I have received.

Beyond the prints above, Plum Pretty Sugar also have these ones available.

All the prints come in knee length and ankle length.  I think ankle length is next on my list (though for me I should probably call it shin length).  I am sharing this with you now because I think it would make a fabulous Mother's Day present (for you or your mom, you pick).  You can view the entire collection of Plum Pretty Sugar here.

Bachelorette Time!

Yesterday I returned home from an awesome bachelorette party in San Luis Obispo to celebrate my Best Friend E's upcoming wedding.  It was a weekend of laughs, drinking, eating, wine tasting and relaxing and I could not have asked for more.  There really is nothing better than being surrounded by some pretty amazing people for three days.  What would a girl do without friends?!  If you have never been to San Luis Obispo, you really must go.  It was not named the "Happiest City in America" by Oprah for no reason.  Being that the majority of us went to college there, it was so fun to reminisce (and realize that we are MUCH older than college students now...oh my they look like children!).  Sort of crazy how long it has been (not too long people....I am not that old!).  Overall, it was an amazing weekend and though I am happy to be home with my hubby and little ones, nothing refreshes me more than a little friend getaway.

12 Hours

This past Saturday I took a VERY QUICK trip up to San Francisco for my Best Friend's Bridal shower (remember the Engagement Party here?).  When I say quick, I mean that my husband dropped me off at the airport and exactly 12 hours later he was picking me up.  I was really sad that I could not stay the night and enjoy a few more cocktails with friends, but with three kids, my sister's shower at my house next week, and a bachelorette at the end of the month, I had to sacrifice fun to help get things done around the house.

The shower was absolutely perfect and the girls hosting did an incredible job of merging class, sophistication and fun into the day.  Plus, San Francisco decided to help out as well and delivered a GORGEOUS day filled with sunshine and warm weather.  I am so excited for the bachelorette in a couple weeks (3 days away with friends...YEA!) and returning to San Francisco in April for the big event (4 days away with friends....YEA AGAIN!).

Congrats E on your first wedding event!

Adorable Place Settings
Best Friends, minus J.  We missed you! (Bride is on the left)
I am not a fan of games but this was REALLY cute.  "He Says, She Says" game, which I was terrible at.
I had to say no to these due to giving up sweets for Lent.
My biggest issue?  They were filled with chocolate!
My favorite gift the Bride received.
A monogram jewelry box from her mom filled with her grandmother's pearls.
Bride with her Bridesmaids, minus one (again , we missed you J!).

BOOKED!!

Here are some photos from the last time I headed out to Chicago to visit my Best Friend.

Two things to note here.
One, my dress is extremely yellow.
Two, there are no children in the pictures.
That is all about to change.

We just booked our flight to take ALL 5 OF US out to visit her and her family this summer.  That is a total of 4 children (3 for us, 1 for them) under one roof.  It is going to be SO much fun and perhaps SO SO crazy.  I cannot wait.  Since this is the first time we are taking the kids to Chicago, I am so excited to show them downtown, go shopping (Baby Girl already asked), visit the lake, BBQ on the roof top deck and of course, take them to their first Cubs game.  I am also beyond excited to meet my BFF's little one for the first time.  Their house is going to be total chaos for 5 days (apologizing in advance J!) but it is sure to be one big party (sans the 3am dance party on the roof like last time........hey, what do you expect?  four adults, no children, one weekend.  Why wouldn't we?)

Countdown to July is on!

Prom Night with Best Friends, 80's Style!

No, I am not flashing back to my Prom.  For two reasons.  One, my Prom picture is TERRIBLE and I hope to never look that way again.  Two, I was in High School in the 90's and therefore was never able to indulge in all things florescent, big, crimped, and glittery for Prom (though thanks to Molly Ringwald, I thought it would have been awesome!)  Nope, this was the 80's recreated and oh how rad it was! (Yes, rad, don't pretend like you never said it).

This past weekend the two fabulous girls on my left and I surprised the fabulous girl on my right in San Francisco for her 80's inspired engagement party.  We traveled in from Portland, Chicago, and Orange County to dance the night away to some of the best the 80's had to offer while flaunting our fabulous fashion finds from vintage stores and Forever 21 (weird these are in the same sentence.  It almost pains me).  And even though I did not win Prom Queen,  I still had a phenomenal time.

The best part of the weekend is that we were all able to spend some time together.  With living in four different cities, it just doesn't happen very often.  These three girls are the best BF's a girl could have and we have been through the good, the bad and the ugly together.  Dating, boyfriends, fights, make ups, divorce, engagements, miscarriage, bad haircuts, marriages, death, children.  The list goes on and on.  They truly are a piece of me and have been instrumental in the person I have become.  I love them dearly and think of them as sisters.  Plus, we can totally laugh at ourselves when the lame 12 year olds at the bar make fun of our outfits.  (If I was a bitch, I would say we looked better than they did in their normal clothes but I am not a bitch so I am not going to say it.).  Anyway...

Happy Engagement E &J and congratulations again!
