Serving Seconds

When it comes to conducting food posts, I will happily admit that I am a beginner.  Sure I love to be in the kitchen but my knowledge is EXTREMELY limited when it comes to different recipes and kitchen tips and I rely on the ability of others who REALLY cook to help me.  Melissa at Serving Seconds is one of those people.

Melissa and I have known each other since college when she rushed my sorority and we perhaps partook in a cocktail or two over the years.  She now lives in San Francisco and is a corporate woman by day and a food blogger by night.  Let me tell you, this girl can really cook.  When my mind is blank on what to make, I head over to her blog to gain some inspiration.  Saturday was one of those days.  I needed a dessert for a dinner party and wanted something creative and new.  Of course, Melissa had Chocolate Covered Bacon waiting for me.

They, of course, were a hit (just ask the hubby...he almost made himself sick he just couldn't stop eating them).  Once again, Melissa delivered the goods.

Melissa doesn't post just recipes but provides kitchen tips, great food links from around the web, cookbook recommendations, the best food in San Francisco and so much more.  She is also a new student to the San Francisco Cooking School so I can only image the delicious recipes that are going to start showing up.  I guess what I am saying is, your crazy to not stop by Serving Seconds and make a visit.  Believe me, your stomach will thank you.

Liebster Blog Award

Yesterday I received a wonderful surprise from a fellow blogger, Sarah of Coffee and Cabernet.  She passed on to me and Juggling in Heels the Leibster Blog Award!

Beyond having a fabulous name (not biased at all), she also favors my two favorite beverages, coffee and wine.  At this point, there really is no reason why I wouldn't love her blog.  I became a follower a few months ago and really enjoy all her posts on Mommyhood, DIY Projects, Furniture Refurbishing and, my favorite, "It's the Small Things".  Posts are going to start getting even more fun now that she is expecting Baby #2 (I am in no way going to tell her what she is in for).  I highly recommend checking out Coffee and Cabernet (perhaps with a glass of wine???).

Sarah received this award and graciously passed it on to me and four other bloggers so now it is my turn to pay it forward.  At this point you are probably wondering what the hell a Liebster Blog Award is so here are all the details.

The Liebster Blog Award is given to up-and-coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.  Liebster is a German word meaning "dear, sweet, kind, nice, good, beloved, lovely, kindly, pleasant, valued, enduring and welcomed" (I can see many of you thinking, and why did she pass it on to you?).

To keep this award going, each recipient, in turn, must pass it on to five other bloggers, with less than 200 followers, who really stand out.

The rules of the Liebster Award are:
1. Thank the person that gave you the award and link back to their blog
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know!
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog post.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love too!

So at this point you have got to be wondering who I am naming in my Top 5.  Here they are!

A mommy who is also a stylist.  DREAM.  Yes, I wish I had her job, but lucky for me she shares all her style secrets on her blog.  She has incredible taste and very often I purchase items that she highlights.  She also might be the funniest person I have never met.  I frequently laugh out loud while reading her posts and truly enjoy her candid commentary.  This is a daily must read for me.

She is a mother of three, lives in San Francisco (one of my favorite places on earth), is an amazing photographer and attends some pretty fun events around town.  Her posts remind me of my life, jumping from work, pictures of the children, to an evening event, followed by date night with the hubby.  And did I mention she is an amazing photographer?

Not only is this my best friend but she is also "Deal Finder Extraordinaire"!  She has incredible style and her deal finding abilities are insane.  Her blog highlights all these deals that no normal person would ever be able to find, along with coupon codes galore.  I wish I had the ability to be such a savvy shopper but lucky for me she blogs about it and does all the work for me.

If you enjoy food as much as I do, you will absolutely love this new blog that has hit the scene.  I have known her since college but had no idea what a fabulous cook she was.  She lives in San Francisco and posts not only her fabulous recipes, but also some pretty incredible food events around the City.  She is a Food Network junkie who knows a thing or two (or three, or four) about great restaurants, chefs and all things delicious.

Who isn't intrigued by the comment "7 houses in 7 years".  Yep, thats right, this blog chronicles this family's 12 month leases across the state of California.  Not only that, but she has two adorable boys and is pretty crafty with a recently opened Etsy shop.  She is on the go and I am fascinated.  Plus, we met (without knowing it) at a bloggers event and she was extremely nice so, that counts for everything.

Thank you Sarah for passing this award on to me!
