It's Sandal Time!

I am going with a summer theme this week.  I am just too excited about the heat FINALLY coming.  And with the heat comes sandals!  I have been on a sandal kick lately (mostly likely because I feel that if I wear them, the sun will stay...positive thinking!) and have come across too many pairs that I want.  My favorites right now are DV by Dolce Vita and Sam Edelman and I love all the neutral colors because they go with everything.  Here are some of my faves...

PURCHASED!
Found them in NY!

PURCHASED!
Bought on sale on Piperlime but now even cheaper at Bloomingdales

NEXT ON THE LIST
Just enough heel to still be able to run after the kids

It is a Rachel Zoe pick.  Nuf said.

Love the braided detail on this

School's Out For Summer!

Growing up, my mom used to always say how much she loves summer and us kids being out of school.  When I first became a parent this began to confuse me. I was all too ready to have my children in school 5 days a week because, hey, it is easier isn't it?  It wasn't until my oldest started school that I realized why she loved summer.  Not because we were around but because it is a vacation for the parent too!  Here is the list of things I do NOT have to do for the next three months:

1. Drag myself out of bed early to ensure I am ready before getting the kids up.
2. Drag a sleeping child out of bed to ensure he is ready on time.
3. Be out of the house by 7am.
4. Drive carpool and other taxi driver responsibilities
5. Make a lunch every single night of the week (so annoying)
6. Make sure homework is done every night
7. Make sure all forms are completed and turned in on time
8. Book reports
9. Volunteer hours (yep, private school means you better help out on campus)
10. Make two dinners so the kids can eat early enough to get to bed on time (this one is a real pain in the ass but I sort of blame my hubby for working too late, not school)
11. Make sure kids are in bed on time
12. Make sure I remember which day was normal uniform and which day was P.E. and ensure clothes were ready and washed (yes, he has worn dirty PE shorts.  Gross, I know.  But don't judge till your there!)

I think if I sit here long enough the list could go on and on.  All I know is, it is summer time and this mommy is going to kick up her feet and let crap slide for three months!  In fact, it is bed time right now and I see two boys watching T.V.!  Oh well....it summer!

Weekend Read: Bossypants

Bossypants.  It's funny.  It won't make you smarter but it will make you laugh.  Did I absolutely love it?  No.  Was it a quick read with a lot of entertainment?  Absolutely.  If you are a fan of Tina Fey, it will give a lot of insight into her life and how she got there.  She is known for her comical writing and that is what you get with this one.  I enjoyed it but would not say it was one of the best books I have read.  But I was not expecting that either.  If you are looking for a lighthearted, quick read, here it is.

P.S. How did I never notice that she had a scar on her face?  Apparently to others this has been obvious for years.

Wait, What Just Happened?

November 28, 2004, this little man was born....

I blinked, and now this boy is graduating from Kindergarten today....

I have alway been told that life goes fast, but I did not realize we were moving at light speed.  I cannot believe my oldest is now 6 1/2 and heading on to 1st grade next year.  Shocking is the only way to describe it.

Happy Graduation J!

Love for the Little Ones: Comfy Clothes

One thing I have learned after having three children is that they could give a crap what their clothes look like.  They simply want to wear things that are comfortable.  Now, this completely goes against everything I believe, as this mommy will walk around in the most uncomfortable shoes imaginable if they look good.  BUT, I have given in and have decided that if they want it, they can have it.

The boys have been easy.  They want shorts, but not just any shorts.  They want what they call, "cozy" shorts.  The item that my boys constantly flock to are these Gap Basketball shorts.

They LOVE them.  Any time I send them upstairs to dress themselves, these are what they come down in.  I get it.  Boys want no effort.  They have them in every color available.  My only problem now is trying to get them to put t-shirts on that actually match the bottom.  A Celtics green t-shirt with grey and red bottoms is NOT what I had in mind (why do boys not care about matching!).

Girls has been a little harder.  Yes, a 1 year old wants comfort, but as the mother of only one girl, I want her to be overly cute at all times.  Sounds completely selfish....and it is.  What are you going to do?  Baby Girl and I have reached an agreement with Tea Collection dresses, leggings and rompers.

I just ADORE their clothes and they are extremely soft and moveable.  They wash great and allow Baby Girl to move around the entire house without feeling confined.  Also, I love that they are feminine without pink everywhere.  Truth be told, I am just not a pink person.  So, she gets comfort and I get super cute.  Win Win!

Found Them!

I have been searching Orange County for the Rag and Bone colored denim collection.  Apparently individuals in Orange County are not the client they are looking for because they have been absolutely impossible to find.  Lucky for me, New York is different.  I was able to pick up the Elephant Flare jeans in a cobalt blue at Bloomingdales.  I just adore them.  I am going to try something new and post pictures of me in them so you can get idea of just how bright and fun they are.  This is from our day on Balboa Island.  Sorry in advance for the lack of professional photography (aka. the cropping of pictures, no posing, etc).....

I was squatting down to pick up my daughter,
I don't walk like this

Cropped pic, trying to show off the jeans

And just because I want you all to know how much I am embracing this bright color movement, here is a fabulous picture of me in my bright blue jeans and bright green toes.

Here are some other options that will help you embrace all this fabulous color!
Rag and Bone Elephant Flare in Red

Current/Elliot Skinny Stretch Ankle Jeans in Kelly Green
