Coats

Even though I am a summer girl at heart, there is something exciting about turning in the t-shirts, tanks and flip flops for layers of cozy sweaters, coats and boots.  Cooler weather has been a refreshing change over the last week and with it has come some perusing of warm weather items.

One item I become overly obsessed with is coats (hence the reason the hubby picked one up for me).  I would live in a cooler climate if only for the reason of having an excuse to own numerous big coats.  I love each Fall season when retailers become inundated with beautiful coats of so many fabrics, styles and textures.  It makes me dream of traveling to cooler weather where I can actually wear them.

The J.Crew Catalog

It is EXTREMELY rare for me to open a catalog and HAVE to go buy something I see.  Of course they are nice to look through, give great styling ideas and provide a little thought into upcoming purchases.  They do not, however, make me run to the computer and try to grab items before I even know what I am doing.

The recent J. Crew catalog was another story.

I could not get enough of it.  The camo, the leather, the navy.  The hats, sweatshirts, tshirts and pants.  It was out of control.  Have you seen it?  Every page offered a look that I love that I wanted to add to my Fall 2013 wardrobe.

So yes, I made a trip to J.Crew, thanks to this catalog.  Top of my list was the above Embroidered Emblem Baseball Cap (the first baseball cap I actually liked on myself) and Horsing around sweatshirt (I mean, next trip to Santa Ynez this is a must) and I contained myself from going crazy.  If I had no self control, I would have picked up the following as well.
Camo Tee
Minnie Pant in Bi-Stretch Wool with Zippers
Merino Leather-pocket Sweater
Double-coth Moto Jacket
Just to name a few.

If you haven't received the the catalog, I suggest you make a visit to your local J.Crew to check everything out.  You can try to order online but the hat, sweatshirt and camo t-shirt are all on backorder until October or November Yes, I tried to order online and then was the crazy person who called my local store to see if they had them in stock.

Happy Monday.

Dots

Happy Monday!

Indeed, it is a Happy Monday because, for the first time in 11 days, I am starting to feel human again.  The meds are working and I am hoping this psycho cold is FINALLY getting pushed out.  I have never had a cold/sinus infection take me out like this.  It was brutal.

Mother's Day was incredible around here with breakfast from the hubby and kids, brunch with my entire family and then a quiet walk all by myself.  I feel so blessed to have the people in my life that I do.  I hope all you mommies out there also had a fabulous day.

The weather here in Orange County was also showing some gratitude with delivering heat in the 90's for the first time in SO long.  It felt nice to sit outside and really feel like summer is approaching.

Dare I say we can pack away the sweaters and pull out our shorts?
I sure hope so.

Stripes and Sequins

I am definitely the girl who hates to wear something a little too much in fear that it is going to show up on Instagram or Facebook and look like I never change my clothes.  Especially when the days are perhaps a little too close together.  It is vain and stupid but I still think about it (some of you do too I bet.  It is a girl thing!).

Strangely though, I completely went against this belief this past week and wore the J.Crew Sequin Stripe Tee THREE TIMES.  Yes, three times in one week.  That is how much I liked it.  Originally I had picked it up for Christmas Eve with a red pencil skirt I had also been eyeing for a bit.

Then I needed something for our family photos in San Francisco and thought it would look cute under a leather jacket and skinny jeans.  Finally, it was New Years Eve.  What better than sequins on New Years Eve?!  This time I paired it with wide leg jeans and a moto jacket for our family get together.  The wearing has gotten out of control and I will now be taking a bit of a break from the cute little thing.  Anyone else get addicted to an item of clothing?

I am sharing all this because I just noticed that it is now on sale and half the price!  Stripes, sequins and a sale?  I would be mean not to share.

Fall Under $100 - The Sweater

For today's "Fall Under $100", I am going to focus on The Sweater.

When it comes to sweaters, I tend to lean towards oversized and neutral.  I like the idea of them fitting over whatever I am wearing AND coordinating with the majority of my wardrobe.  This way, when the temperature drops, I can have one of these ready to throw over everything without having to think much about it.

Though sweaters are a constant staple, it has been fun to see them created with Fall trends in mind.  These sweaters are the normal "everyday" sweater with a twist.  By embracing some of the trends we are seeing, they are given a little personality, still go with everything and can give any outfit a little more style.

Green, for Real

After today's post, I realized that some may not be as excited to bring green into their wardrobe as I am.  To convince you otherwise, I created a style using the Gap khaki's to prove that ANYONE could pull off this color with just a few simple staples in your closet.  This look is not only mommy-approved (a.k.a kids cannot ruin anything you are wearing) but also keeps a little style in your -day-to-day.  Love it.

Denim on Denim

What do you think of denim on denim?

JCrew
Levi's
Gap

Personally, I love it.
No need to match.
No need to fuss.
Just laid back chic.
