Self Control

I have stopped myself from pre-ordering this Rachel Zoe Estella Tuxedo Wrap Gown from the FW Collection at least 5 times today on Moda Operandi.

It just screams GLAMOUR and I already know which events I would wear this to (none being weddings, OBVIOUSLY).  I keep telling myself "you need new furniture, you need new furniture" but then, if I don't look good next to the furniture, then what is the point?  Justification at its best.  I am giving myself HUGE props for my self control.

Also, this Rachel Zoe obsession has got to stop.  I am going to go watch the Proenza Schouler show online to veer my obsession from one designer to another.  Gawd I wish I was at New York Fashion Week and not packing boxes.

Life As We Know It

My life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately and I thought the best way to share all that has been going on would be through photos.  These have been taken through my iPhone and Instagram so sorry on the lack of perfect quality.  It makes me laugh when I watch the Real Housewives of Orange County because my life is not nearly as "glamorous" as theirs.  This is what the "OTHER" OC housewives deal with.

Major Fail on the "keep your child from getting injured" plan.  She jumped into a bean bag, missed and dented our wood coffee table.  I cannot believe it did not split open but I was checking pupils for days.

We are spending so much time in San Juan right now due to basketball.  After one of the games we were able to go grab lunch in Old Town with some friends.  This place was fantastic.

There is a small chance I may not have been listening on a conference call and instead was taking pictures of my cute Missoni for Target notebook.

Remember the "Everyone is sick" post?  Well here is a picture from the many days we all spent in our pajamas.  Baby Girl is drinking this smoothie here in hopes that she does not get what they did.  It must have worked (or at least I am telling myself it did).  Of course everyone gets sick when we need to pack!

While cleaning out the garage, I came across the tiara my friends made me wear on my Bachelorette, which was paired with a lifesaver-covered mid-drift t-shirt.  Just call me "Slutty Nurse".  It was 10 years ago, what are you going to do?

This is our kitchen in boxes.  If I never see another box again after this move, I will be okay.

A great way to finish Valentine's Day.  Take out from True Food Kitchen, followed by a sweet gift.

If you are in the Orange County area, don't miss the fabulous event I am hosting at Bloomingdale's, South Coast Plaza on February 25th!  Click here for details!  I would love to see you there!

DVF For Baby Girl

Happy Valentine's Day!

To celebrate this V-day, I thought I would share photos of DVF's line of children's clothing for Gap Kids and Baby Gap.  I can only describe this collaboration in one word.
AMAZING.
The line debuts this Spring and I cannot wait.  As mentioned in a previous post, I have an obsession with Diane Von Furstenberg and am so excited that I will soon be able to outfit Baby Girl in her clothing.  This is possibly my favorite designer collaboration ever.  Can you tell that I am excited?  Add this to the fact that a DVF boutique will be opening at South Coast Plaza this Spring and you have one happy lady here.

Wrap Top, $68

Baby Doll Dress, $68

Exhausted

BBQ with coaches and family of Little League USC Trojans 2012

EXHAUSTED is the only word to describe how I feel at the end of this weekend.  From the time we woke up Saturday morning, it has been a mad dash to Sunday night.  It is not very often that I am actually looking forward to Monday morning in hopes that I can catch my breath.  Believe me, it is a VERY true statement when people say that children will run your life.  They will.  Here is just a quick look at everything we had going on this past weekend..

* 2 basketball games
* Opening day for baseball
* packing, packing, packing
* "Cub of the Week" board
* "100 Days of School" project
* Church
* Valentines for 29 First Graders
* Valentines for 14 Preschoolers
* Grocery Shopping
* more packing, packing, packing
* BBQ with Coaches and family of Little League 2012

I remember the days when the weekend meant the hubby and I ran some errands, slept in and relaxed.  Those days are LOOONG GONE.  Not that I do not enjoy all this.  In fact, I know that there is going to be a time when I miss it...at least that is what I keep telling myself.  And did I mention only one of the kids is involved in sports?  I cannot imagine when all three are!

What about you?  How was your weekend?

Kids (and Moms) Day Out

I always love when fashion and a great cause come together for an event.  I have been working with Bloomingdale's on this event for a while and now that everything has been finalized, I can share!  Here it is!

Bring your kiddos to the Children's department to experience the exhibit,

Meanwhile, mom's can get pampered in Bloomingdale's exclusive beauty lounge, located right in the Children's department!

So at this point, there is absolutely no reason for you to miss this.  I will be there with my kids and am looking forward to seeing you there with your little ones too!

* Bloomingdale's Fashionable Fundraiser runs in-stores and online from February 24th through the 26th and they have committed to donating $75,000 to Mentoring USA.

** Pretend City Children's Museum is an educational facility designed to "build better brains" through purposeful play, hands-on learning experiences, role playing, and educational programming.  It is a unique community resource where families, educators, and community agencies come together to ensure that each family member gains the experiences needed for a productive and fulfilling future.

Light Weight

As I am writing this, I must confess that I am hung over.  I am just putting that out there because if I don't sound coherent, there is a reason.  It seemed like a brilliant idea to stay up until 1am Tuesday night drinking wine with friends but the brilliance quickly faded when my alarm went off only 4 hours later.  The fact that I have functioned somewhat normal today is an accomplishment in itself.  It has only taken 12 years to realize I am no longer in college.  There is no such thing as "bouncing back" anymore.  But back to the point of this entire post.

I am one of those people who is always cold.  ALWAYS.  Unless we are in the desert (one of my favorite places on earth), there is a pretty high probability that I will be cold at some point throughout the day.  For this reason, I have an addiction to light weight knit sweaters.  They add just enough coverage to ward off the slight chill in the air.  Add some color and some stripes and you have one of my favorite items for Spring.

Packing Up

It's official!
We are moving!

Monday we signed our life away the papers and will be closing on a home today or tomorrow.  We are going to take advantage of the upcoming holiday weekend and wait to move at the end of next week.  This gives me a little over a week to get the rest of this house packed up, thrown out or donated.

I am the opposite of a hoarder when it comes to getting rid of things.  I LOVE to clean things out.  It is sort of an addiction.  It just not make sense to me to hold on to something in hopes that you JUST MIGHT look at it again in 30 years.  My hubby believes that this addiction to getting rid of things is really because it provides me an opportunity to replace them.  I completely (well, for the most part) disagree with this.

My favorite item so far that we have found while cleaning out the garage is an entire box of weddings gifts that we have not even opened in 10 years.  10 YEARS.  We have obviously moved this box from house to house but never once decided to use anything in it.  At this point, there is no reason to keep moving it.  This box is a perfect example of why people need to STICK TO THE REGISTRY.  Off to the donation pile it goes!

I have a lot to do over the next week but am so excited to share the house with you as I turn my retail focus into interior design.  My investment-driven hubby has me on complete lockdown for now (there may have been a slight chance he had a heart attack while signing the papers) but I am sure I am going to be able to squeeze one, two (or more) things in over the next few months.  Where there is a will, there is a way, right?!
